In this edition of the SCCA Sacramento Chapter Drivers’ spotlight we are excited to learn about Robert Tyler, who you may recognize by his 1964 C10 black truck with the number 911 on the sides. He co-drives this with his talented wife Rachele. This is the same vehicle that he has always raced in.
He has been racing for 8 years where he was first caught the bug, by watching it at a Good Guys event. Robert cannot claim to have any other hobbies, because what else is there besides racing? His love for his C10 runs deep, as he would not want any other vehicle to race, with the exception of lots and lots of upgrades.
He has the opinion that King Kong would win in a race against Godzilla for sure, because King Kong is much more agile than Godzilla.
There is nothing that Robert thinks people would be surprised to learn about him. If he could have dinner with anyone, it would be his mother.
There is a very respectable racing accomplishment that Robert is immensely proud of, and that is co-earning the first ever Tom Smiley Sportsmanship award with his brother, Curtis Tyler.
Some advice that he would offer to a new member is to have fun, ask questions and always be open to advice.
The vehicles that he enjoys watching the best are of course his wife Rachele Tyler in their truck. She is fearless and really is exciting to watch. He also enjoys watching Korynne Smith in the Audi or the “green Monster”.
The next time you are out for a race day, it is highly recommended to watch the Tyler’s run in their truck. Such a well set up vehicle.
Thank you, Robert for sharing this information about yourself with the new and current members of the Sacramento SCCA chapter.

I always like watching you and your wife drive that truck. I had one and it could not have been more different than yours. I bought it as a work truck for $200 with a screwdriver in the ignition and a padlock on the door. I loved that truck and it was fun to drive with the three on the tree manual transmission. I am sure that it was fun to watch from the rear seeing the mufflers swinging back and forth being supported by chains under the truck. It sounded like a NASCAR and I thought about painting it all Black and putting a white number 3 on the door. Your truck is a beautiful beast and one of this clubs iconic racing machines. It will always be one of the vehicles that people talk about and the drivers that drive it are just as Cool!
