In this edition of the SCCA Sacramento Chapter Drivers’ spotlight, the man, the myth the legend, Jeff Glorioso has volunteered to share information about his racing career with us.
An extraordinarily talented veteran driver, Jeff has been racing for 55 years. His racing career began in 1968 while he was living in Guam. Jeff currently races a red 2011 Grand Sport Corvette, although his favorite AutoX cross car was his 1965 Shelby GT-350, which they had for 20 years.
He was first introduced to AutoX, because he loved (and still does) speed.
Jeff likes to get pumped up by listening to Shania Twain, “Let’s Go Girls”, or songs from Top Gun, before racing. You may find him eating a candy bar 20 minutes before a race, as that is his good luck charm and superstition.
Jeff is a man of many talents, but his hobbies while not racing, is golf and designing homes. His wife Sandie and Jeff also like to travel and take trips, when they have the time. During race weekends, he enjoys watching any Top Ten F1 driver. Jeff’s dream car is a 2023 Z06 Corvette.
Jeff is of the belief that King Kong would win against Godzilla in a race, and volunteered that something people would be surprised to learn about him, which could be a silly talent, is up until 3 years ago, he was able to get up with his legs crossed while sitting on the floor, using no hands.
The racing accomplishment that he is the proudest of, is raising a daughter to be the first female to win a men’s class at the SCCA Nationals, and winning the 1991 Pro-Solo in L.A., as well as the King of the Hill 2003.
If Jeff could be any breed of Dog, he would choose a Papion. During race weekends, he likes to watch the Porshe drivers.
He volunteered that if he could any superpower, it would be the ability to fly.
Some excellent advice from this veteran driver is to get seat time, and just have fun. Jeff believes that everyone should at least try once in their life to participate in an open track day, with a good driver.
An AutoX event that stands out in his mind, as one of his favorites, is the 2022 Enduro where he came in first place against a very tough opponent winning by just 4 seconds.
Jeff has been to Hawaii and holds that in regard as his favorite travel destination, with Tahiti being his dream destination.

Jeff has always been friendly and willing help with great advice for me. I’ve learned a lot from Jeff’s advice… Thank you Jeff
Jeff is always one of my favorite guys to watch and talk to. We have walked around at a Cars and Coffee or two and I have always enjoyed his sense of humor while we were looking at things. I didn’t know about his daughter’s racing success. That is great to hear and something that I enjoy doing with my son too.
