In this edition of the SCCA Sacramento Chapter Drivers’ spotlight, we are highlighting Cody Dillon Perry who you may recognize as currently driving the 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5i. Cody previously drove a 2001 Honda Accord 2.3L. Of the two, the Subaru is the favorite.
Cody has been participating in AutoX for one year, going on two. He first heard about this sport from a friend at work that also races and suggested he try it out. Ever since then, Cody has been hooked. (Sound familiar anyone?). Although Cody does not have any race rituals on race days, he always makes sure that he does the basic vehicle checks, like the fluids and his safety devices. The race day superstition that he regularly practices is to “never say you won’t damage or break anything on race day”. When not racing, Cody likes to spend his time engaging in other hobbies such as getting some fresh air with his RC rock crawlers, hiking or PC gaming.
A dream car of his that he would love to own would be a 1970 or 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy color.
If Cody were a breed of dog, he states he would be a German Shephard or a Husky.
Cody shared that he would like the opportunity to have dinner with a WWI veteran so that he can sit and talk with them about their experiences during that time.
When asked what his preferred superpower would be, he stated it would the ability to fly, as it would save so much time during his commute, which would really save time and money on gas.
Cody’s favorite cars to watch during race weekends are the unassuming cars, like a stock looking car that is able to put down fast times is pretty cool to him. He believes that something that everyone should try once, is driving their car in an AutoX event because it allows you to push their car and themselves to the limit and learn how to handle those high stress situations like hard cornering and improving braking. There are a lot of people on the road that could benefit from knowing their cars better.
Some advice that Cody offers to any new member to the AutoX world is to have a veteran ride with you at least once during your first event. Do not expect to put down the fastest times because you more than likely will not.
Although Cody has not been out of the United States yet, his dream travel destination would be Sweden and/or Norway. In the United States, his favorite is Yellowstone, maybe taking in some fresh air during a hike?
Thank you to Cody for sharing this with the members and potential members of SCCA Sac Chapter.

Korynne, You’re doing a bangup job with the bios. Thanks much; each one has been interesting!
Hope you did better than I this last weekend. That’s okay, as I had some stiff competition. I do like all of my competitors, so enjoyed myself anyway. Jeff
