Tire Update for 2026
We encourage everyone to read section 13.3 of the 2026 SCCA Solo Rules (Page 78). To highlight a key point, only tires that meet the following requirements may be run in “Street Category” classes in either National or Regional events. The only exception is for tires that were OE (Original Equipment) on a specific car and then they may only be run in Regional events.
Minimum UTQG Treadwear Grade of 200.
Minimum molded tread depth of 7/32” as specified by the manufacturer.
Listed in a current year or prior 2 years of the “Tire Guide®” and/or
the “Tread Design Guide®” (www.tireguides.com).
US Department of Transportation (DOT) approval.
Tires must be designed for highway use on passenger cars.
There has been a lot of interest in the new Hoosier Track Attack Pro tire. It fails to meet the tread depth requirement and is therefore not legal for National or Regional events. If someone shows up with that tire, their runs will be classified as ‘Fun Runs’ and they will not earn class points. A single (1) point will be allocated for PAX purposes and to ensure that their runs count towards their 100% participation.
